Chris currently is in private practice in Orange County located in Laguna Niguel specializing in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, anxiety disorders, and depression. He also is a clinical supervisor and licensed therapist with Alternative Options in their partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient chemical dependency and mental health programs, and provides general outpatient services. As a licensed therapist, he has worked at Del Amo Hospital inpatient acute care facility in Torrance, CA.

Chris Cincotta graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Master's of Science in Counseling. He completed his Master's Project on the effects of mindfulness-based practices for adolescents suffering from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). 

Chris completed his internship at Mariposa Women and Family Center, a non-profit community counseling agency located in Orange, CA, where he developed his speciality in anxiety and depressive disorders. In addition, he created the group, "Making Peace with Anxiety and Worry," which used a mindfulness-based and CBT approach for GAD, panic disorder, and for posttraumatic stress and depression symptomology. Chris also completed an internship at Outreach Concern, located in Westminster, CA, a school-based counseling program helping adolescents suffering from behavioral, academic, and emotional problems.

Chris has completed the International OCD Foundation’s (IOCDF) Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) training program and is certified to treat OCD and OCD spectrum disorders. He completed an intensive exposure and response prevention training at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) for OCD/related disorders headed by Edna Foa. He completed the Virtual Professional Training Institute’s (VPTI) program in habit-reversal training for OCD related disorders. Chris has completed advanced training in cognitive-behavioral therapy at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia for various anxiety disorders, and for depression with suicide prevention. He has also completed training for eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing for trauma/various conditions at the EMDR Institute. Chris has attended many trainings in mindfulness-based practices for anxiety, depression, and related conditions. He also works to maintain his own personal practice, striving to live a more mindful life.

In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies with family, studying the art and science of the "helping profession," playing and listening to music, and sipping coffee in the sun.

Chris is a member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy (ACT), Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and the Orange County Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (OCCAMFT).
